Parish Nursing focuses on the intentional care of the spirit as well as the promotion of health and the prevention or minimization of illness. This is done by providing:
- Health education for someone recently released from the hospital with a new diagnosis
- Health counselor that can discuss health concerns, encourage healthy lifestyle changes
- Referral advisor if other services are needed such as home health, counselor, social services
- Health advocate to find needed services or equipment that someone has been unable to locate on their own
- Volunteer coordinator for help with rides to a medical appointment, meals during convalescence, or help with child care during an illness
- Access to support groups within the parish and in the surrounding areas
- An ear to listen or a shoulder to lean on when someone is unable to be physically present at church and is seeking connection with the Body of Christ
If you know of a parishioner at home or in an assisted living or skilled care facility, that might benefit from a parish nurse visit, or if you have any questions about the position, and what we can offer, please call the parish at 636-225-5268 and leave a message.
