Mission Statement
The Mission of the Sacred Heart Liturgy Commission is to enhance the worship of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit by promoting full, active, conscious and fruitful participation in liturgy at Sacred Heart Parish. While remembering to honor our parish traditions, we support the liturgical prayer life of the community in planning of all aspects of the parish liturgical celebrations so that they will be meaningful, uplifting, and prayerful as well as audibly and visually appealing. We nurture spiritual growth of ministers through our ongoing support and reflection on the blessings of ministries.
Adopted April, 2010
The Liturgical Commission devotes its time and energy to aiding the pastor in developing a community atmosphere that enhances worship. The Liturgy Commission researches, initiates and coordinates those activities in the parish that pertain to the celebration of the liturgy of the Church and the spiritual growth of the members. In addition, the Commission is responsible for the art and environment of the Church to enhance each liturgical season.
The commission meets monthly from August through May and at other times as needed.

REQUESTS FOR PARISH LITURGIES AND/OR PRAYER SERVICES
Liturgical Requests by parishioners or parish groups for liturgies or prayer services not regularly scheduled by the parish can be considered by the Liturgical Commission in their advisory role to the pastor. Decisions regarding such requests would consider the mission of the Church, the current liturgical practices and traditions of Sacred Heart Parish, the availability of necessary resources, and sufficient time for planning the event. The Liturgical Commission will use the following guidelines:
1. The proposed event supports the mission of the parish and of the Catholic Church.
2. The proposed event is liturgically appropriate and complies with the directives of the Catholic Church for such events.
3. The proposed event does not detract from nor interfere with the existing scheduled liturgical events of the parish.
4. The parish resources such as facilities, priests, ministers, and other required support staff are available.
5. The parishioner or parish group has the capability or has demonstrated the ability to conceptualize, organize and complete a quality event.
6. There is sufficient community knowledge, understanding, and desire for the event that will result in the likelihood of reasonable attendance by parishioners.
7. The person or organization requesting the event completes a required information form.
