At Sacred Heart, we believe faith formation is a lifelong journey. We are grateful and privileged to have the opportunity to share this journey with parents, and to partner with them in the faith formation of their children. Parenting really is at the heart of discipleship. When parents present their children for baptism and raise them in faith, they are answering Jesus’ call to, “Go and make disciples.” (Matthew 28:19) Here at Sacred Heart, we partner with families as they grow in a personal relationship with Jesus, be his disciples and serve him in mission.
Family Faith Formation is for all children in grades 1 through 8 who attend a public or private non-Catholic school and their families. Once per month, children in grades 1-8 and their families come together for an hour and a half session. In these sessions, students are introduced to a new unit of study by catechists in age-appropriate classrooms. At the same time, parents participate in exploring these same concepts through adult parent sessions. Parents then have the option of teaching the next two chapters of the unit at home and children to complete the unit review before the next class or have their children attend catechist-led instruction for the next two weeks at Sacred Heart. Parents choose which option they prefer at the time of registration.
PLEASE NOTE: Grades preparing for a sacrament (Grades 2, 7, & 8) will be offered in person only (Option B).
